FreightCar America’s Triple Hopper is designed to be an all-steel / stainless steel open top hopper having six doors arranged to operate in pairs with double adjustable door locks. This innovative hopper car provides more features and options to further improve the operating efficiency for our customers moving coke, aggregate, or minerals.

The standard car is available with an independent or fully automatic door system, which is operated using our patent-pending all-in-one touchpad control panel. The doors can be opened individually, or in combinations of two or all three doors simultaneously, using touchpad activation. The door system includes an emergency manual override feature, plus the doors’ pneumatic control valves have an external manual override that also indicates open/closed position.

Our Triple Hopper features riveted and mechanically fastened construction and our patented cold-rolled 70ksi yield steel center sill. Our Triple Hopper car can be created from virtually any standard draft gear donor car. We also build coke triple hopper cars that come in several sizes/capacities and with bodies in all steel or a combination of steel and stainless.
