FreightCar America’s mill gondola designs are engineered to our customers’ specific heavy-haul requirements. Versatile and strong, our mill gondolas are available in lengths from 52′ 6″ to 66′ and with side heights up to 8′ and capacity up to 6,400 cubic feet. FreightCar America mill gondola cars offer superior structural elements including fabricated center sills, reinforced end assemblies, pinned corner connections and a combination of welded and fastened sides. Available options include steel covers and customized interior racks depending on shipper requirements, and our car bodies can be all steel or a combination of steel and stainless. They can be created from virtually any standard draft gear donor car.
