VersaFlood™ hybrid steel and aluminum aggregate car


FreightCar America introduces its new VersaFlood™ aggregate car design with lower tare weight, more capacity and dramatically improved operation advantages for moving sand, rock or minerals. Its hybrid design features steel hoppers and aluminum (optional steel) upper side sheets.

VersaFlood loading/unloading advantages:

• Conventional hopper end structure enhances loading capacity
• Faster loading while car is in motion
• No spillage on brake and door components
• No interior bracing
• Integrated “shed cap” prevents aggregate from collecting on top and end chords (patent pending)
• MegaFlo IA™ (independent automatic) door system with All-in-One touch plate control panel (patent pending) operates the hopper doors independently or all at once
• Doors have emergency manual override (patent pending)
• Door control valves have external manual override that also indicates open/closed position The VersaFlood aggregate car features riveted construction and is equipped with Freight- Car America’s famous patented high strength cold rolled center sill.
